Chapter 193 Qian Keke: A Fool's Fortune

It seemed to have heard something in the wind and turned its head to look over, while the gray wolf stayed in the woods, half its head visible as it looked outside with a gaze full of both caution and exploratory curiosity.

This viewing point was not directly opposite the pool, but he wasn\'t drawing a completely realistic scene either.

Some swaying reeds grew in the pool with green moss on the banks. The reeds, the wolves, and the dark green forest all reflected in the clear waters, causing tiny ripples.

The wolf was the focus of the picture! Thus, the pool occupied only a small part of it.

The black wolf turning its head was at a lower position to the left in the image. What really needed to stand out, however, was the gray wolf hiding in the forest behind. The head of the gray wolf should be positioned slightly to the right and in the center, blended into the forest yet still irresistibly drawing the viewer\'s eyes straight to its own.

The time was morning, perhaps even earlier than the present moment, when the light was still quite weak.

If the sunlight were too bright, it would fail to convey a sense of concealment.

After Zhuang Xiaobai had thought through the composition, he drew some lines so light that they were almost invisible, outlining the pool, wolves, and jungle.

Then he began to apply the background.

The pool was flowing, the forest was flowing, the wind was too!

Just as Zhuang Xiaobai was immersed in his creation, the lottery on the other side started half an hour early.

Fang Ye hadn\'t expected the visitors to be so enthusiastic!

With 200 draws planned for 30 winners, he thought it would be good if there were 200 groups of visitors by 9 a.m.

But looking at it now, with hundreds of people queuing up, it was not feasible to have visitors line up any further, so he made the quick decision to start early.

To add to the sense of ceremony, the lottery machine used was a hand-cranked one, like those seen in the "Travel Frog" and "The Marvelous Snail" games.

It was filled with 170 white capsules and 30 orange capsules!

On another table, some mooncakes and the like were placed, so even those who didn\'t win a prize could be consoled with small treats like mooncakes.

Normally, a small bell would accompany the lottery machine, and when a major prize was won, it would ring crisply as the lottery attendant lifted up the winner\'s hand, celebrating with, "Let us congratulate this gentleman/lady for winning the grand prize!"

However, Fang Ye thought the bell was too meager, so he replaced it with a gong. He had the tall and mighty Meng Shi stand at the side, ready to strike a loud "bang" on the gong with a mallet whenever a visitor won a prize, which was far more festive than ringing a bell.

Once this morning\'s lottery was done, the machine would be refilled with white, green, blue, purple, and orange capsules, preparing for the Mid-Autumn Festival event lottery. With a lottery ticket, one could come and try their luck.

Fang Ye took up the megaphone and announced, "Because there are so many people in line right now and the square is a bit crowded, we are going to start now!"

The first visitors at the front of the line were a slightly overweight father and his son, about six years old. Both looked tense and full of expectation as they inquired, "Can we draw the lottery now?"

Fang Ye smiled and gestured for them to proceed, "Yes, you can start now. Just hold onto this handle and give it a spin."

"Come on, son, you draw!"

The little boy nodded seriously, "Mhm!"

He spun the handle, his eyes fixed intently on the outcome.

The "clatter clatter" of colliding and rolling beads could be heard inside the lottery machine. When the opening of the drum faced downward, a white capsule fell out and into the tray.

"Can we make mooncakes for the animals now?" the boy asked expectantly.

"Not this time."

Seeing the boy\'s look of disappointment, Lan Li picked up a mooncake from the table and offered it with a gentle voice and a smile, "Don\'t be discouraged, little friend. Here\'s a mooncake for you; there are rewards just for participating."

Groups of families kept coming up in pairs!

Some older kids came up to draw the lottery by themselves, with their parents waiting outside. Parents of very young children didn\'t dare let them draw the lottery on their own; with so many people around, losing sight of each other could lead to trouble in trying to reunite.

Tang Xiaoxin and Qian Keke were the ones drawing the raffle themselves!

Tang Xiaoxin and Fang Ye greeted each other happily, "Hello Brother Fang Ye!"

This time, Fang Ye didn\'t tease her but said with a smile, "Xiaoxin, let\'s see how lucky you are today! An orange capsule is the big prize!"

"Alright! I\'m definitely going to draw an orange capsule!"

With a look of eagerness sparkling in her eyes, Tang Xiaoxin bounced on the spot to warm up, her twin ponytails dancing lightly behind her. She then took a deep breath.

She grabbed the handle of the drum and turned!

Clatter clatter~

A white capsule fell out.

Tang Xiaoxin\'s eyes widened, and she exclaimed in frustration, "Ahhhhhh!!!! Why can\'t I get it even after warming up!"

Qian Keke patted her on the shoulder, full of confidence, "Move aside, let me try! Let me show you what dumb luck looks like."

Upon hearing this, Fang Ye and Lan Li both had a bewildered look on their faces; this kid really seemed a bit silly—no one calls themselves foolish.

Clatter clatter~

As Qian Keke finished turning the drum, a shiny orange capsule fell out, stunning everyone present.

Fang Ye couldn\'t help but think, could it be true that fools have foolish luck?

"Boom!!!!!"

Seeing this, Meng Shi turned his head and lifted his robust arm, raising the mallet tied with a red ribbon. He struck the large copper gong hanging nearby. The sonorous metallic sound echoed mightily with a lingering, melodious tremor, spreading far and wide!n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Next to them, Mi Jin clicked the shutter, capturing the orange capsule rolling out of the raffle machine, Meng Shi striking the gong, Fang Ye and Lan Li with their eyes wide in surprise, and Tang Xiaoxin\'s ecstatic expression!

She still remembered these two little girls, having taken their pictures the first time they visited Linhai Zoo.

Unexpectedly, they ended up in front of her camera once again.

The visitors behind them grew excited, discussing, "Look, someone won!"

"Who won, who won?"

"It looks like a little girl!"

It felt like being at the scene of an ancient exam results announcement, so much fun!

There was truly a festive atmosphere.

Qian Keke wore a smug look, "How about that, see? This is what being a lucky star is all about!"

"Ahhhhh!!!! Qian Keke, you\'re amazing!" Tang Xiaoxin exclaimed excitedly, shaking Qian Keke\'s arm and begging coyly, "Please, please, Keke, can you take me along to make mooncakes?"

Qian Keke asked, "Brother Fang Ye, can we?"

Fang Ye chuckled and replied, "Sure, but the ingredients for making mooncakes are set for each person. If you two do it together, each of you will have fewer mooncakes to make. Also, each parent can only bring two kids max, because everyone makes the mooncakes together and it\'ll get too crowded with more people."

"No problem, we\'re good friends, and good friends should share their blessings," Qian Keke agreed heartily.

Tang Xiaoxin, ecstatic, spun around holding her hand, "Keke, I just love you!"

Lan Li handed Tang Xiaoxin a mooncake and praised, "Such a wonderful friendship should be cherished!"

Tang Xiaoxin and Qian Keke smiled at each other!
