Chapter 384 Secrecy
Confused, Ty considered reaching out to touch one but instinctively yanked his arm back, thinking, This might be a one-time use. I need to take some time to process what\'s happening before me... Maybe I should consult the creature before using a resource that might be crucial later.
Ty hesitated, his gaze locked on the three orbs. Creature, explain these orbs. Where did they come from? Ty\'s voice echoed within his own mind, demanding clarity.
There was a palpable pause, a silence that felt heavy with withheld truths. Finally, the creature\'s voice slithered into Ty\'s consciousness, oily and smooth, filled with a disdain that was hard to miss. Ty, you continue to surprise me. Orbs of power manifesting like this... it\'s... unexpected.
You lied to me about the wheels and souls, Ty countered sharply, his suspicion rising.
The creature chuckled, a sound devoid of warmth. Indeed, I might have bent the truth, but consider this—everything serves a purpose, including the deception. You\'ve become stronger, have you not?
Ty\'s mind raced, connecting dots he wished he hadn\'t. And these orbs? he pressed, unwilling to let the creature deflect.
The creature\'s tone shifted, becoming more guarded. These orbs are a culmination of... let\'s call it potential. Potential that you\'ve unwittingly tapped into. As for their exact nature and origin, that knowledge isn\'t necessary for you. Not now.
Use them, or don\'t. That\'s your choice.
Why the secrecy? What are you afraid I\'ll find out? Ty\'s thoughts were a mix of anger and determination.
Afraid? Hardly. It\'s simply not the right time for full disclosures, the creature retorted, its voice cold. Think of it as keeping you focused on what truly matters—surviving what comes next in the arena.
Ty clenched his fists, feeling the creature\'s evasiveness like a tangible shroud. It was clear he wouldn\'t get the full story here—not yet. Resolved but wary, he decided to keep a cautious distance from using the orbs until he could understand their powers more fully.
As he contemplated his next steps, Ty couldn\'t shake the feeling that every piece of information the creature withheld was a potential trap, a piece in a dangerous game that was far from over. The creature\'s intentions were murky at best, but one thing was clear: Ty was part of a larger scheme, one that might not have his best interests at heart.
Taking a deep breath Ty thought in his mind, Release, and as such the wheel slowly faded away and Ty opened his eyes to see Lt Daemon standing in front of him still as he stated "So, how did the meditation work?"
Ty smiled and for the first time he felt like he had a personal win, thinking to himself, \'I don\'t know why, but seeing that wheel again… just gave me a bit of joy..\' Then Ty stated, "Good, it did a lot of good…. More than you will probably ever know.
So, Lt Daemon, regardless if I win, live or die in this Arena… thank you, I\'m sure you have your own goals and aspirations in all of this… but you\'re a good person."
Lt Daemon rubbed the back of his head and stated, "You said it yourself, I have my own motives, so no need to thank me, but I do appreciate it. I wouldn\'t put so much effort if I didn\'t feel like it was worth it. You\'re strong… but I bet you know you can be so much stronger, right?"
"Yea," Ty stated staring down at the flesh of his hands "I feel good though right now, though I do miss where I was before getting here… but there\'s not I can do about that right now.
"What do you have going on after this?" Ty asked.Nôv(el)B\\\\jnn
"Well," Lt Daemon stated, "as soon as I finish up here I plan to have a little one on one with that old general, I spoke with some higher ups about that situation and thankfully Yun-Jin has been focused on training and even taken up writing her thoughts down.
"I know she is enraged and I want this taken care of before she goes off trying to doing something rash, she only knows the old general as a kind soul with a strong patience… but, well back when I was a youth I saw a bit of his darker side and his brutality… I just don\'t understand how he could flip and kill one of his own, part of me wants to believe something else is going on."
Ty nodded. "I was going to ask about that. I\'m glad she hasn\'t done anything rash. The only time I met him was when Jui-Lao was heading to the performance review. He seemed a bit ominous at the time, but way too old to be killing people. Then again, I don\'t understand the politics here much."
"I can\'t promise to help, my goal is as clear as it has been since I first told you," Ty finished.
Lt Daemon smirked. "Oh yeah, just focus on your mission of surviving, and I\'ll focus on mine. I believe JJ is pretty close to cracking the issue of you… she\'s a very smart girl. What happened to her parents was just terrible... and yes, I knew HE would be here… so I made sure she wouldn\'t be present."
"So just do what you can, and I\'ll ensure everything is taken care of, both for JJ and Yun-Jin." He gave Ty a light smile before adding, "I know you like at least one of them," nudging Ty\'s shoulder.
