Pregnant After Healing the Alpha

Chapter 115 - 109: Zhan Qipei is Amused by Qiao Jing's Audacity

Upon hearing this, Zhan Nanqing and Su Manhan’s gaze fell on Zhan Qipei’s hand gripping Qiao Jing’s, their expressions becoming even more bizarre.

Qiao Jing frowned; she guessed Zhan Qipei must know the truth now. She didn’t want to go.

“Not going?” Zhan Qipei narrowed his dark, inscrutable eyes, unblinkingly staring at Qiao Jing, “Fine, if you won’t come with me, then we’ll talk about it right here and settle the past accounts properly.”

These words only intensified Qiao Jing’s headache. She withdrew her hand and, without another word, walked towards a deserted area.

Qiao Jing led Zhan Qipei to the storeroom, looked up calmly, and spoke without haste.

“If you have something to say, then say it quickly.”

Qiao Jing’s indifferent attitude made Zhan Qipei’s teeth itch.

“Even now, you still won’t admit it?”

Qiao Jing lightly raised her delicate eyebrows, “What are you talking about? I don’t understand!”

“Qiao Jing!” Zhan Qipei roared, stretching out his hand and pinning her against the door.

Qiao Jing’s eyes remained as calm as before, without even the slightest ripple.

“I asked you before if you were the one who operated on me that day,” Zhan Qipei ground out through clenched teeth.

“Mm.” Qiao Jing nodded, “And I responded to you, it wasn’t me.”

Zhan Qipei’s chest visibly heaved, “That was your answer before, what about now? Do you have anything else to say?”

Qiao Jing stubbornly denied it, “It still wasn’t me.”

Anger smoldered between Zhan Qipei’s brows, barely controllable. Right then, he truly desired to lose control and give her a good lesson, to make her cry and beg, to have her admit it honestly.

He was so close to losing control and doing just that.

“Aren’t you a mediocre doctor?” Zhan Qipei asked through gritted teeth.

“I was just being modest,” Qiao Jing retorted with a raised eyebrow.

“Heh—” Zhan Qipei was infuriated into laughter by Qiao Jing.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Qiao Jing fixed her eyes on the man, measuring him up as he fluctuated between anger and amusement. It was quite entertaining.

After a pause of around fifteen seconds, Zhan Qipei lifted his other hand, pressing it to his temple.

“You really are sent by the heavens to torment me!”

Qiao Jing looked at Zhan Qipei with suspicion, but before she could fathom the meaning of his words, Zhan Qipei had already withdrawn the hand that pinned her to the door.

Qiao Jing looked again at the man’s face, her pupils subtly brightening.

She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but why did it seem like he was a bit happy?

Why happy? Could it be because in his heart he had already confirmed that she was the one who operated on him? That he finally had the chance to seek revenge?

“I wasn’t.” Qiao Jing emphasized.

As long as she staunchly denied it, he had no way of proving it without conclusive evidence.

Zhan Qipei indeed felt somewhat pleased, although even when Qiao Jing said such things, he didn’t get angry at all.

“I will find evidence,” he stated confidently.

Seeing Zhan Qipei’s certainty, Qiao Jing’s scalp tingled.

But, luckily—

“There are 29 days left.”

Qiao Jing’s sudden remark left Zhan Qipei momentarily at a loss.

“The last 29 days, to get a divorce,” Qiao Jing clarified precisely.

Zhan Qipei gazed at Qiao Jing with half-lowered, profound eyes, his thin lips tensely pressed into a straight, icy line.

Thoughts of divorce?

No way!

Originally, he had planned to find that woman who saved him as soon as possible and marry her, confine her in his room, and let her experience what he went through back then.

Now—

He hadn’t expected their fates to be so intertwined; it was as if they were tied to his belt loops.

If he let her go, how could he be worthy of heaven’s gift?

As these thoughts swirled in his head, Zhan Qipei couldn’t help but smile, the corners of his mouth lifting upwards while his gaze at Qiao Jing was like that of a fish on a chopping board.

Feeling the stare from Zhan Qipei, Qiao Jing had the sensation of being an onion, being slowly peeled layer by layer by that indescribable look from the man.

Lou Xinrou arrived with the news just as Zhan Nanqing had stepped out of the VIP ward.

“Nanqing, how’s Grandpa Zhan doing?”

“My grandpa’s condition has stabilized.”

“Phew—” Lou Xinrou let out a long sigh of relief, “Thank heavens, that’s such great news! I was so scared when I got the news. You don’t know, on my way here, I kept thinking, I need to double my efforts in studying medicine. If Grandpa Zhan has another emergency in the future, maybe then I can be of help.”

Upon hearing Lou Xinrou say this, Zhan Nanqing’s expression instantly became incredibly strange.

Right at that moment, Lou Xinrou’s surprised voice suddenly rang out.

“Eh? Isn’t that Qiao Jing? Why is she here too? And why is she wearing a lab coat?”

All of this was not the point for Lou Xinrou. The real point was Zhan Qipei walking alongside Qiao Jing, looking every bit the perfect couple, which stung her eyes to the point of redness and pain.

However—

The words that came next from Zhan Nanqing were an even deeper blow to her.

“Xinrou, let me tell you something. Actually… the person who saved my grandpa is Qiao Jing.”

“What did you say? You say—Qiao Jing? She saved Grandpa Zhan? Isn’t she just a mediocre doctor? How could she possibly have the skills to save Grandpa Zhan?” Lou Xinrou was utterly incredulous.

Zhan Nanqing sat down on the bench, holding her head in her hands, and ruffled her hair.

“How would I know? But I saw it with my own eyes; it’s true, and I’m really confused now.”

The more Zhan Nanqing spoke, the more confused she became, and the more Lou Xinrou listened, the more confused she was, too.

“Don’t panic just yet. Tell me everything that happened earlier,” Lou Xinrou urged.

“Alright, Grandpa suddenly had an attack earlier, and the attending doctor was at a loss, so they called Qiao Jing…” Zhan Nanqing recounted the incident to Lou Xinrou.

After listening, Lou Xinrou collapsed next to Zhan Nanqing, mouth agape in shock, eyes fixated on Qiao Jing in her white coat.

In the past few days, she had been provoked by Qiao Jing’s words but also had to admit that what Qiao Jing said made a lot of sense.

Her Brother Pei was a top-notch individual, whose excellence had nothing to do with his family background. Instead, it was his personal business acumen that demonstrated his extraordinary talent.

All she knew how to do was dress herself up beautifully with the shallow hope of catching Brother Pei’s eye.

Qiao Jing told her that only excellence attracts excellence.

She found this to be true, and as a result, she began to study medicine diligently, striving to make herself excellent.

Through her efforts over this period, she had made rapid advances in the field of medicine and had even started working at the hospital as an intern.

Just when she was ready to share this good news with Zhan Qipei, this incident happened.

Grandpa Zhan’s illness, which even the best attending doctor, Doctor Zhang, couldn’t cure, was somehow within Qiao Jing’s capability to address.

In terms of medical expertise, she couldn’t even compare to Doctor Zhang, let alone achieve anything close to what he could in her lifetime.

When she compared herself, she felt like she was the mud on the ground, while Qiao Jing was a cloud in the sky, and even the sun above the clouds.

Dazzling, blinding!

“Why did it turn out this way?” Lou Xinrou slumped despondently in her chair.

Zhan Nanqing, watching Lou Xinrou in this state, spoke up to comfort her, “You shouldn’t feel discouraged; maybe Qiao Jing just stumbled into success? Maybe her medical skills aren’t that impressive?”

No sooner had Zhan Nanqing finished speaking than an upset young nurse walked over.

“Doctor Qiao is so amazing! Doctor Zhang has asked her to be his mentor several times but she’s always refused.”
