Villain With The Strongest System

Chapter 312 Friendly Banter

Had Erin not asked to go change his pants first after everyone was done hugging him, the team would probably never have found out that he soiled them, however, once he mentioned it, everyone noticed the slight ammonia stench and the wetness immediately.

"Buhara hasn\'t soiled his pants since he was 2…. Buhara is a big orc" said Buhara, as he shook his head and looked down on Erin for doing something that most orcs found unacceptable for adults.

Erin, still red-faced from being caught, tried to shake off the narrative. "I didn\'t… I didn\'t soil my pants!" he protested, but the chuckles from Rocky, Buhara, and Kronos made it clear they weren\'t convinced.

Rocky, wiping tears from his eyes, grinned wide. "Oh sure, you just got so scared that you decided to wash your pants mid-assassination, right?" His words sent the group into another round of laughter, and Erin\'s face only grew redder.

Buhara, towering over the rest of the team, thumped Erin on the back, nearly sending him stumbling. "Buhara thinks Erin is a puny human!" he boomed.

"But Buhara also thinks Erin was very scared. Maybe more scared than orc babies when they see the monster!" Buhara said, his deep laugh rumbling through the group, and causing even Kronos to crack a smile.

Kronos, ever the stoic, raised an eyebrow, his lips twitching as he tried to suppress his own amusement. "I mean, Erin," he began, crossing his arms over his chest, "you did take down a god. I\'ll give you that. But if word gets out that you… you know… had a little accident, it might put a dent in your reputation. I mean what if years down the line you are remembered as Erin the pant soiler of Rocky\'s Champion\'s party? That would be a stain to your legend–"

Rocky leaned in closer to Erin, adopting a mock-serious expression. "Yeah, you\'re supposed to be the cold, calculating assassin, not the guy who needs to carry a spare pair of pants in his bag."

"Very funny," Erin muttered, but even he couldn\'t keep the smile from tugging at the corners of his lips. "I was in a life-or-death situation! You would\'ve been just as nervous if you were staring down God Nunu\'s angry face."

Buhara nodded sagely. "Buhara agrees. Buhara might have also soiled pants if facing Nunu." He gave a dramatic pause, before grinning. "If he was 2!"

Rocky threw an arm around Erin\'s shoulders, squeezing him tight in a friendly side hug. "Alright, alright, we\'ll stop giving you a hard time—only because you saved all our skins. I mean, you took down a god! That\'s no small feat."

Erin relaxed a little, smiling despite the teasing. "Yeah, I did, didn\'t I?"

"And the way you did it…" Kronos added, his voice still calm but with a glint of admiration in his eyes. "Using your voice like that… freezing a god in place. It was impressive, Erin. More than that, it was brilliant."

Erin straightened a little at the rare praise from Kronos. "Thanks," he said quietly. "I had been saving it for something big, and this seemed… big enough."

Rocky nodded, leaning back against a tree. "Big enough? Erin, you just pulled off the assassination of the century. People are going to be talking about this for decades."

"And maybe we\'ll get you a nickname out of it," Kronos added, his tone still teasing. "Like, \'Erin the Pants-Slayer.\'"

"Oh no, no no no." Erin shook his head quickly. "I refuse to let that catch on."

Buhara tilted his head, pretending to think. "Maybe… \'Erin the Silent, except for when pants are full?\'"

Rocky burst out laughing again, doubling over as he clutched his stomach. "Oh, it\'s perfect! We\'ll make sure the bards sing songs about it."

"I hate you all," Erin said, but he was laughing now too, the tension from the last few days finally releasing in waves of mirth. "You know, you\'re all acting like you\'ve never been terrified before."

Rocky raised his hand in surrender. "Hey, I\'m not saying I wouldn\'t have done the same. But the fact that you managed to pull it off, accident or no accident, is why we\'re here and not dead."

Erin sighed, finally giving in to the banter. "Alright, fine. Laugh it up. But when the bards start singing about \'Erin the God-Slayer,\' just remember who\'s going to be getting all the free drinks."

The group laughed again, the sound carrying across the quiet night, as for the first time in days, they felt lighter, like a massive weight had been lifted off their shoulders.

The tension of their mission, the fear of failure, it all melted away in the warmth of their friendship and the success of their impossible task.

Neither of them thought it was possible just a day ago, however, everyone had banded together despite the seemingly impossible odds, which had helped deepen their friendship in more ways than a easy mission ever could have.

As the night wore on, the teasing continued, but it was clear that beneath the jokes and the laughter, there was a deep sense of appreciation and respect for Erin\'s achievement.

No matter how much the team teased him, they all knew the truth: without Erin, they wouldn\'t have made it out alive today and they were deeply appreciative of it.

If before there was a doubt on whether or not Erin was a powerful enough member to be in their team, it had been dispelled now as today Erin proved himself to be indispensable.

Despite being a support mage, he managed to achieve what a real assassin might not have and it was no small matter.

The entire city was in upheaval because of the death of the Mayor, however, little did the people of floor23 know that it was a mission carried out by 4 mere tier2 adventurers.
