Chapter 346: Chapter 346- Jenny's Anger

However, two guards stood vigil outside a door, their presence a testament to the peril that had befallen the palace.

Within the room, a woman was seated beside a bed, where a young woman lay asleep.

The silence was shattered when the younger woman, Jenny, stirred abruptly, her eyes fluttering open with a surge of anger coursing through her.

As fragmented memories flashed through her mind, she struggled to recall the events of the previous day.

The last image etched in her thoughts was that of a man descending the stairs and reaching the main peak, and then everything had gone dark.

"M-meiyue?!"

The woman, who was Jenny\'s mother, recoiled in shock upon seeing her daughter jolt awake, gasping for breath.

She quickly leaned forward, wrapping her arms around Jenny\'s shoulders, embracing her tightly as relief washed over her at the sight of her daughter finally awakening.

"Haah... M-mom?"

Jenny\'s gaze swept across the room, taking in the familiar wooden furniture that signified this was indeed her mother\'s chamber.

Yet, confusion clouded her mind as the memory of the last figure she had seen lingered in her thoughts.

She focused on her mother, noting her weary expression, and felt a swirl of emotions since she couldn\'t remember much of what had transpired.

Everything felt like a blur, ending in her sudden loss of consciousness.

"Are you alright, my daugh—"

The woman began to ask, her voice trembling with concern, but was abruptly cut off by a sound that echoed ominously through the room.

Krieek

Bam!

The door swung open violently, and the two guards stationed outside were hurled into the room, crashing against the wall before they collapsed, rendered unconscious by the force of the intruder\'s assault.

"Liege has summoned you both."

A black-robed man commanded, his voice chilling, a trench coat draped over him and a hoodie obscuring half his face.

His gaze was cold and unforgiving as he surveyed the two women, noting their shock.

Jenny was the first to recover, indignation sparking in her.

"Y-you?! How dare you—"

She began, her hands clenching into fists, fury rising within her.

The audacity of this intruder—barging in and incapacitating her guards—ignited a fire in her that she could hardly contain.

She attempted to rise from her position, but her mother gently restrained her.

"W-we will come..."

Her mother whispered soothingly, her voice a mixture of resolve and fear.

With a steadying hand on Jenny\'s shoulder, she slowly stood, nodding in agreement to the dark figure\'s demands.

She understood the peril they were in; the guards\' unconscious bodies were a stark reminder of the threat they faced.

Jenny resisted, feeling powerless and enraged, but her mother knew deep down that complying might be the only way to protect her daughter.

----

The air outside the mansion hung heavy with tension as the matriarch of the Celestial Phoenix Order emerged from the shadows, flanked by two cloaked figures.

One could almost feel her presence warping the very air around her, a testament to the internal energy she had harnessed through her breathing technique.

With her hair framing an ageless face and eyes as cold and sharp as a blade, she surveyed her surroundings, her gaze penetrating as she made her way through the lower cells.

She arrived at the open area where she had suffered defeat at the hands of that woman just a day prior.

Her attention became fixed on a man clad in a black suit and mask, standing at the edge and surveying the entire Phoenix Order.

\'Why does he appear so strong?!\'

Rigid in her chains and bindings, she concentrated on his back, but the memories of their battle clouded her perception.

Despite this, an unsettling energy resonated around him, suggesting that, in some way, his power had increased since their last encounter.

"What\'s the meaning of this?" she demanded, her voice slicing through the air like a finely honed blade.

It carried an air of arrogance, as if she believed herself untouchable.

And perhaps she was, were it not for the injuries she had sustained upon awakening from her seclusion.

"Yu Shao Yan. Don\'t pretend you aren\'t aware," Ryuk replied, his tone laced with sarcasm and a smirk playing on his lips.

His eyes sparkled with a mixture of scorn and something darker, as he spoke with the bitterness of someone who had wished for a merciful death but had their kindness met with rejection.

In that instant, Yu Shao Yan\'s eyes flickered, revealing a brief flash of realization.

Panic set in as she stood frozen, understanding that she had been caught off guard.

At that moment, with her confidence shaken, she attempted a counterattack by using a soul Gu—a special type of parasite designed to sap the very essence of a target\'s soul.

But as she remembered that her daughter and granddaughter were both under his control, she suppressed that instinct, biding her time for the right moment to strike.

Her plan had hinged on taking down the woman who seemed to hold great significance in Ryuk\'s eyes, intending to use her as leverage against him.

Yet, she had never anticipated being exposed this early in her scheme.

Inhaling sharply, she straightened her posture and regained some of her former defiance, even though her voice wavered slightly.

"This was my doing alone. My family had nothing to do with it."

She lifted her chin defiantly, the chains clinking as she did so.

Although her mask of righteous indignation was beginning to crack, Ryuk could sense the underlying dread lingering just beneath the surface.

For Yu Shao Yan, the memory of how he had threatened to destroy everyone within the Celestial Phoenix Order a few days prior, yet had shown mercy by sparing her, her daughter, and her granddaughter, created a complex mixture of emotions.

It seemed there might be an ember of kindness within him.

Driven by this thought, she sought to clarify her situation, hoping he would reconsider and only punish her for her actions.

However, she had sensed yesterday that this man\'s kindness was but a fleeting illusion, a false hope designed to lead her and her family into despair.

Once he departed from Jade Dominion after completing whatever task had drawn him there, he would likely eliminate them.

This understanding compelled her to take major countermeasures by implanting a soul parasite within that woman, a decision fraught with risk but necessary for her own survival. "So, please, will you show mercy to them and punish me instead?"

"Haah....it appears, I need to clarify something," but it appeared she had made a big mistake, evident from the chilling yet sharp voice filled with killing intent reverberating in the place, "ThE oNlY qUeStIoN yOu ShOuLd Be AsKiNg Is WhEtHeR I\'lL lEt YoU dIe QuIcKlY."

WHOOOSH

\'!?\'

"Khukh!?" She choked back a breath, her feet stumbling due to a sudden surge of energy, making her cover her body with a layer of internal energy to protect it. However, due to the low amount of it and not being fully recovered, her skin clearly showed the marks of heat burns.

"Y-you," Yu Shao Yan was about to add further, but suddenly sensing something, her eyes darted toward the mansion gates, where she spotted two figures approaching—Jenny and her mother.

Jenny\'s mother, with her eyes clearly widened, saw Yu Shao Yan, who was right now tied in shackles, with a surge of energy shrouding her mother\'s body, who should have been the one protecting them. Seeing her clearly suppressed made her eyes widen.

"N-noo! You both—!?" Yu Shao Yan, noticing that they both advanced further, yelled louder. She heard a voice emitted from Jenny.

"RYUK!" Jenny had her sights locked on Ryuk, eyes ablaze with fury and feelings of all the pain she had gone through in her past life and now, presently, seeing that same figure once again threatening her family. Her eyes visibly widened with lungs crying out.

Swish

"HOW DARE YOU COME HERE!" she screamed, her voice raw and full of emotion as she charged at him, her claws ready to strike.

The tension around her crackled, and she looked like a coiled spring ready to explode at any moment.

Her eyes glistened with the rage of someone who had been pushed too far, and she lunged at Ryuk, as if she could tear him apart with her bare hands.

Her mother called out to her, desperation in her voice, "Jenny, no!" But it was too late; Jenny was consumed by her own fury.

"As stupid as ever," with a swift, almost fluid move, Ryuk sidestepped her attack, his clawed fingers tightening, showing the grip as his hand moved with brutal precision.

\'!\'

"Kurghh!?" Before Jenny could process what was happening, Ryuk grabbed her face, lifting her off the ground like she weighed nothing.

"Ughh!—Y-OU—L..ea...—" Her legs were flailing in the air, and for a moment, everything seemed to freeze.

"Y-you BASTARD!" Panic flashed in her eyes as terror edged in on the anger.

"You just want to destroy everything, don\'t you?" she managed, her words breaking as if each one was a dagger trying to hurt him. Her fingers clawed around his as she tried to break it, with both hands clenching his forefinger and little finger in hope to pull them away from her face, but it was all futile, only making her yell even louder due to the grip delivering visible pain, "YOU\'RE JUST A MONSTE—AAAaaaRRRrrrGHHHHH!"

[ Host, not supporting her but killing her may not be a good choice right now. ]
