Chapter 275: Perion

The Cultivator\'s eyes flashed in surprise seeing William unharmed after his first attack, "What is that armor? Tell me."

"I don\'t even know your name! Take me out to dinner before asking me to show off my clothes!" William shouted, making the Cultivator frown with distaste.

"Perion, as many call me. Now, tell me where you got that armor." he fired off another beam of light, before switching to the Wind Element to blast William back into the range of his Spell.

"I don\'t feel the obligation to tell you!" William replied as he countered the opponent\'s Wind Spell with his own Wind, disturbing the air and forming a mini tornado in between them with the two spells.

The wind tornado blocked Perion\'s vision momentarily, but William had Life Sense active so he was able to track Perion\'s location at all times. He blinked nine times to turn on the Vision Talent\'s Mana Mode, just in time to see an AoE Light Spell headed in his direction.

He teleported, exiting just a few meters behind Perion while the man was focused on casting his Light Spell.

The Array Wheel appeared in William\'s hand as he cast two consecutive Complete Confined Arrays on the man. Perion\'s Spell was canceled, his arms falling to his waist as he lost control of his body. His body turned into a cloud of smoke, which seemed to be a mixture of the Wind and Darkness Element, then reappeared directly behind William and slashed at his Cloak with a small dagger.

William\'s Cloak was able to deflect this attack as well, but a tiny scratch appeared on its surface that healed instantly. It became clear to Perion that William\'s Cloak wasn\'t entirely invincible, just a bit stronger than most armors.

On the other end, William evaluated his tricky opponent, trying to figure out what just happened.

Though the man\'s Cultivation was hidden and looked like the beginning of the Golden Core Realm, William could still see it with the effects of his Talents that he was actually at the Fifth Stage of the Soul Formation Realm, just one level away from the peak and not much higher than the Cultivator William killed in the Fire Mine.

That being said, this person was incredibly skilled and much more difficult to deal with than the other man. Even after the man appeared behind him, William had no clue how he hadn\'t trapped his enemy.

Only after replaying the scenes in his mind did William realize that the man had cast another Spell just before launching his Area of Effect Light Spell. It was just a slight fluctuation, but William saw the Darkness Element become slightly more pronounced as the man\'s figure doubled, while the original sank into the duplicate\'s shadow.

He hid in his own shadow, waiting for me to think I caught him off guard. This guy is the real deal.

Dealing with Supreme Left\'s Clone had made William a bit arrogant, thinking he could take on anyone without a problem. It became clear now that he was still a Core Formation Cultivator, in the Empty Core Realm at that.

No matter how many Talents William gained and how much he upgraded them, there was a limit to how much he could improve with just that. Cultivation was like William\'s base stats, while the Talents were multipliers.

As a Commoner, his base physical strength could be considered a 10, for example. If his Strength Talent at the time was SSR-Rank like it is now, then his base strength would have been 24 times the original, for a total of 240 strength.

If a Golden Core Cultivator was 500 Strength, as another example, William wouldn\'t stand a chance!

It was the same now. If William\'s base strength was at 100, then his opponent\'s base strength was 2000! Even if William had the advantage, it wasn\'t a large difference that couldn\'t be made up for with technique!

Not to mention, his enemy had hundreds or even thousands of years of experience. Only with William\'s insane Talents could he keep up.

Having uncovered the enemy\'s secret in just a single breath, William feigned confusion and stepped away like he needed time to think about what happened. Perion saw this and immediately rushed forward, but William didn\'t use his Confinement Array this time, opting to save it for the perfect moment.

Instead, he hid the Array Wheel and retrieved the Mana Gathering Staff and the Abyssal Weapon Shifter, swapping the weapon into a tough shield while channeling Fire Magic into a massive wall of flames that rushed towards Perion and blocked his vision.

-Developed a new Spell: +1 PP

-New Spell: Flame Tsunami

"Heh, a slow attack like this can\'t hurt me. You will learn not to provoke the Pillars of Justice!" Perion laughed as his body flashed away at high speed, the Flame Tsunami missing by a mile.

His smile dropped, however, when Perion realized that William was nowhere to be seen. He casted his Darkness Detection Spell, looking for human-like shadows in the area, but William\'s wasn\'t among them.

"Damnit, don\'t tell me you ran away." Perion stomped in the air animatedly as he looked around for any sign of William. He reached for a communicator in his Space Ring and raised it to his mouth while pressing a button.

"Yes, Master Perion?" someone questioned from the other side of the communicator.

"Perry, I need you to-" Perion suddenly faltered.

Sticking through the other side of his chest was the Abyssal Weapon Shifter, which had turned into a spear and pierced his heart with a single move. Perion turned into a cloud of smoke again, but the Array Wheel was already in William\'s other hand, casting the Confinement Array on Perion\'s shadow.

His true figure appeared, hunched in the air having not been able to fully stand up yet. He was truly confined this time, but the man still managed to raise his head.

"I don\'t know how you managed to figure it out so quickly... but you\'ve sinned again, boy." Perion struggled to finish his words.

William didn\'t plan to waste time chatting. He turned the spear into a sword and slashed downward, aiming for the man\'s neck. Blood splattered as Perion\'s head was detached, but a wisp of Light Mana sprung from the man\'s neck and reattached the body part in an instant.

A ring disguised as a Space Ring on his finger broke, probably the reason for Perion\'s revival, while a second "Space Ring" lit up and cast a massive barrier around his body to protect him from any follow-up attacks.

William finished casting another Confinement Array to contain Perion just as the man\'s barrier shattered the first one, preventing the man from standing back up. His Array Wheel only had offensive Arrays left, so William was forced to form the last one himself with barely enough time.

He couldn\'t keep up this cycle of breaking and replacing the Confinement Arrays, so William turned his sword into a hammer and slammed downward with his full strength, shattering the barrier with a single hit and breaking Perion\'s neck.
