God Ash: Remnants of the fallen.

Chapter 502: Island Rescue (7).

Both were covered in injuries from head to toe. The average level of Mutant Beasts following behind them was Level 100.

And this was thanks to a rather terrifying looking creature just following behind the mini-horde.

"Shit... How the hell did we get into this?" Hunter cursed under his breath.

Dan threw him an enraged glare,

"That\'s because you keep trying to rush us. Now, everyone had joined the race! Are you happy?! Moving quiet won\'t kill you, you know... This... This definitely will!"

Rarely was Dan enraged. Hunter had realized that although the range of his telepathy was wide, the ship and the men still fighting on the sea were too far away. That, or the magic circles on the island were somehow limiting the connection. Either way, they had to get to the shore before they could do anything.

As such, they had to hurry. No one knew when the island would sink, nor did they know what type of beast they were dealing with. Except for the occasional rumble remaining them of looming death, it was easy to forget they were even in mortal danger.

However, hurry had two major downsides. One, they would be ill prepared to deal with any surprises along the way, and two, they were going to attrack a crowd of spectators; salivating Mutant Creatures hungry for human flesh.

Hunter shrugged, "This is just good practice. You think you can take that thing out?"

The largest of the beasts following behind them was a true menace. A {Sea Drake} at the first Tier, Level 100. An exception, even with how quickly Mutant Creatures grew.

The beast was not only strong, it was also intelligent. To give them absolutely no hope of winning, it was slowing calling in more Mutant Creatures to surround them until there as no place left to run.

The flesh of humans, is more that delicacy for Mutant Creatures. It is more like a magical elixir than can boost their arcane evolution. The more humans they devoured, the more their potential grew. Ascending to the realm of Celestial Beast might not be a dream should a Mutant Beast consume several worlds worth of humans and its fellow Mutant Creatures.

Still...

Although this {Sea Drake} was a far cry from a Celestial Beast, it was still rather troublesome.

Dan narrowed his eyes at him, "What do you think?"

Hunter sighed again, "Probably not then..."

Dan raised a brow, "Can\'t get through his skin?"

Hunter nodded, "My skill is not bad, but my arrows lack penetrative power. I can\'t take it out. Plus these things are a bit impervious to attacks boosted with magic."

As they spoke, they continued to run through the island, leaving over broken walls and diving through windows and broken door frames. Because of the average size of the Mutant Creatures, it made it difficult for them to truly surround this way unless they absolutely destroyed every single building they came across.

Obviously z the Mutant Beasts weren\'t very smart, and as such, simply barreled through every building they encountered, making things easier for Hunter and Dan.

Dan turned to Hunter after a period of silence,

"You think they\'ve made contact?"

Hunter nodded, "If my guess is right, it should be right about now. And judging for the way these Lightslayers do things, convincing them won\'t take much."

Dan let out all the air in his chest,

"Damn... Things are getting complicated fast."

Hunter shook his head, "Tell me about it."

The shoreline quickly made itself seen. Just as open ocean was at their fingertips, a loud roar came from behind.

"Dodge!"

A jet of concentrated water that could very well cut cleanly through multiple layers of reinforced carbon steel passed iver their heads.

The huge {Sea Drake} had shot out a {Water Cannon}. Drakes are creatures with quite ancient origins. The bloodline of dragons...

Of course, these Drakes are more like baby lizards compared to actual Drakes, which are also like baby lizards compared to actual Dragons.

But they still had the power of a Dragon contained in their veins.

"Get its legs!" Hunter and Dan wasted no time getting into combat mode.

Out of everyone else, they had the most chemistry, as they had been fighting together for years.

Dan chanted under his breath, activating a spell. A layer of ice spread from his feet and crawled up the deep blue scales covering the legs of the {Sea Drake}.

The creature had launched itself forward away from the gradually closing in group of monsters. However, this was the chance Hunter and Dan were waiting for.

A beast was a beast at the end of the day. Most beasts were patient hunters, but seeing their prey getting away would likely make them agitated. They would want to take action immediately to prevent loss from happening.

Unfortunately, the Mutant Beast had decided to hunt the wrong thing today.

However, the time frame for the killing of the beast and being surrounded was quite small, about a few seconds.

So that means a beast with such a high vitality had to die in a few seconds.

Hunter burst right into action, his speed going from a zero to a hundred in a flash. Switching his bow for a rather crude yet sinister looking dagger, he avoided a sweeping tail swipe with a wide jump, spinning in the air.

Using the angular momentum from the spin, he drove the dagger straight through a gap in the monster\'s scales.

A stream of blood erupted, but Hunter wasn\'t done yet.

His eyes glowed, and all of a sudden, multiple.magic circles popped up all around the creature.

Dozens of huge wolves jumped out, and transformed into carbon copies of himself, each one wielding a dagger quite similar to his own.

The dagger was a weapon he had received after killing a rather troublesome beast not uoo recently.

It had two main skills; the ability to absorb a small amount of blood and transfer a portion of the vitality back to the host as long as the dagger was embedded in the enemy\'s be body, and the ability to multiply, up to a certain limit, the limit being determined by how many points of magic the owner had by a wide ratio.

It was called {Infinite Bloodlust}, and had come from a creature with numerous aerated teeth protruding out of its body.

These skills were quite strange, and wouldn\'t be useful to most.

However, for Hunter, it was a rather sinister, yet effective weapon.

The daggers held in each duplicate\'s hand was just as real and effective as the real one.

All dagger dug into flesh, and Hunter immediately activated the blood draining skill. For a beast like the {Sea Drake}, a songle dagger would have been no different than a sting, or a bug attempting to suck away some blood.

However, Hunter has summoned an entire army...

The {Sea Drake} began to squeak in pain, but it was firmly grasped by the dozens of Hunter\'s and Dan\'s ice trap.

"Glacial Execution."

Sharp.ice spike began shoot up from the ground, completely.impaling the creature until it can covered in bloody holes.

Eventually, the beast breathed its last, delivering a healthy stream of EXP to both Dan and Hunter.

"Quick? Make a run for it!" Hunter yelled as he began running towards the water once again.

Dan was right behind him with the Mutant Creatures on their tails. It was almost comedic. If this story was told in a time where most people wouldn\'t turn a pigeon, most would most likely laugh and call it a tall tale.

It did indeed look and seem like one as well.

Stepping into the water, Dan made a transformation. His bodyw as suddenly covered in a savage looking armor of ice that seemed to hug his body like a second skin.

His sabatons froze the surface of the water the moment they met. Hunter quickly held onto Dan, and faster than one could blink, they shot away from the island.

Hunter reached out with his mind.

\'Ignis! Steve... Susan, Evangeline... Cain! I have bad news!\'

He quickly sent out a wide range message. Each person connected to him through the White Wolf was like a string. In theory, it was possible to send the same vibration down every string by plucking one of they all made contact with one another somehow. So that was how he communicated witj everyone like that.

\'What\'s happening?\' Steve\'s reply came almost immediately.

\'There\'s a giant Mutant Beast trying to sink the island.\'

\'Yeah, I know ri-... Hold up. Could.yoi repeat that?"

Hunter repeated what he had said, adding an urgent, \'There\'s no time to waste.\' Behind it.

Steve fell silent, \'Well crap. That\'s not good at all.\'

\'Idiot! What the hell are you doing during a fight?!\' Ignis\'s voice suddenly and somehow broke through the connection.

\'Gahhh!\' Steve exclaimed.

Hunter scratched his nose. What the hell was going on?

Eventually, he just sighed, \'We will be getting to ship. We have to get back to the island and get as many people as we can off.\'

Steve seemed unsure, \'What about the curse on the ship? How do we handle that?\'

\'That bridge will be crossed for now, we\'ve got a ship to catch.\'

"Hey! Can you send one reinforcements!" Steve tried to tell, but the connection has already been broken.

He sighed, "So much for a bit of help..."
