Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime

Chapter 116 - 116: Fledgling (Additional updates for over a thousand recommendation votes)

“You called the law firm?” Mrs. Jameson became anxious upon hearing this, “Why didn’t you discuss it with the family first? Did you tell them everything about your brother’s case?!”

Zara Jameson nodded.

Mrs. Jameson grew more worried, “What if the information gets leaked? What if the law firm spreads it around?!”

Being accused of rape was indeed a scandal. Although there were already whispers in the school, the Jameson Family had been very cautious, fearing the commotion and the embarrassment of facing others.

However, Mr. Jameson noticed something unusual in the conversation.

“You explained the situation to them thoroughly?” Mr. Jameson inquired gravely, “And they still assured you that they could win the case even after knowing your brother’s situation?”

Zara replied, “I used a fake name when I called, and I didn’t reveal my brother’s identity. They said if he’s truly innocent, he just needs to cooperate with their investigation, and they’ll definitely find strong evidence.”

At first, this statement seemed innocuous, but upon closer examination, one could see that they were using a provocation tactic.

It was as if not cooperating with their investigation was an indirect admission of guilt.

Zara, still young and provoked, immediately said that Henry Jameson was definitely innocent!

The other party said if he were innocent, there was a 90% chance of winning the case.

“Zara, don’t worry about your brother’s case anymore. He will find a way to reach a settlement with the other party,” said Henry, who had experienced too much disappointment recently and was feeling numb. He whispered, “Marrying her is impossible, but I can offer more money, or see if she has any other requests… I’ll try to fulfill them.”

“If Chloe Bennett was after money, she would have directly blackmailed him instead of going to court!” Zara yelled angrily, “Brother! Even if there’s only a glimmer of hope, we should try!”

“But…if we lose the lawsuit, there won’t be any room for negotiation. Your brother… will go to jail,” Mrs. Jameson was torn, her heart in turmoil.

She couldn’t bear to reach a settlement with the woman who had framed her son, but she was also worried about the consequences if they lost the lawsuit.

The seemingly simple two choices in front of them could lead to irreparable damage to the Jameson Family if any mistakes were made…

It was Mr. Jameson who made the final decision.

“I’ll call Prominence Law Firm. If they’re scammers, we’ll drop the matter,” Mr. Jameson announced firmly.

“And if they’re not scammers?” Zara asked.

Mr. Jameson was silent for a moment, then said word by word, “If they can really win the case, it would be a lifesaving favor for our Jameson Family!”

Avoiding imprisonment and restoring the family’s reputation, such favor would be as if saving the life of the Jameson Family.

“Achoo!”

Purple Summers, who was sitting in the car, suddenly sneezed.

Atra Blanc asked with concern, “What’s the matter? Did you catch a cold?”

“No,” Purple wiped her nose and casually replied, “Someone might be thinking about me.”

“Don’t tell me you caught a chill,” Atra complained, “The air conditioning in the mall was too cold earlier. Your body is sensitive to temperature changes. I’ll make you some pear soup when we get home… Alexander, you should have some too. It can help prevent colds.”

Alexander, who was driving, nodded and agreed, then drove the car into the Summers Family’s garage.

After breakfast, they went shopping, and Atra bought a lot of clothes and daily necessities for her daughter. By the time they returned, it was almost noon.

Alexander didn’t have a chance to be alone with Purple during the trip, so she enjoyed the shopping.

When they returned to the small house, Purple took her shopping bags to her room.

However, just a moment later, she rushed downstairs, grabbing the railing and shouting at Atra-

“Mom! Mom! There’s a bird on the window ledge in my room! Hurry over!”

When Atra heard her daughter’s call, she hurried to her room. Both the mother and daughter stared at the shivering bird on the window ledge and were dumbfounded…

Bewildered, Atra asked, “Did this… fall from a tree?”

Purple was just as perplexed, “There are no trees outside the window. Maybe a wildcat brought it in….”
